Meeting with Jean-Michel Bertrand, who followed the trail of wolves to film his documentary “Living with wolves”, in theaters on January 24.

Director Jean-Michel Bertrand patiently followed a pack of wild wolves for his third documentary, Living with wolves. He traveled the Hautes-Alpes massif to become an expert in finding the paw prints of these animals on the ground. The documentarian explains having installed around twenty automatic cameras. With a little luck and a lot of patience, he managed to capture some spectacular images.

“Wolves must remain wild”

To blend into the landscape, Jean-Michel Bertrand camouflaged his cameras on the trees, using moss or bark. “I pee everywhere to mark my presence, but it’s so as not to worry them. (…) There are no relationships at all, and especially not: the wolves must remain wild”, says the director. Committed, his documentary aims above all to reconcile Man with the king of the forest.
