After the fiction series inspired by the Lac-Mégantic railway drama written by Sylvain Guy, make way for the documentary series directed by Philippe Falardeau.
Unveiled on Tuesday, the trailer for the series, which will be released on May 2 on the Vrai platform, is powerful. His title, Lake–Megantic – this is not an accident, summarizes his point that the tragedy was to be expected and that it could even happen again.
Through testimonies that are both shocking and human, Philippe Falardeau paints a portrait of the disaster that killed 47 people (not counting the deaths by suicide afterwards) by demonstrating that the thesis of the accident does not hold, in particular for political reasons.
The director conducted the interviews. Stakeholders, experts and bereaved members of the Lac-Mégantic community have agreed for a rare time to recount the sequence of events of July 6, 2013.
The documentary series Lake–Megantic – this is not an accident, finalist at the Canneseries festival, has four 60-minute episodes. It will be released two months after the fictional one produced by Alexis Durand-Brault and Sophie Lorain, available on Club illico.
