Three years after the assassination of Samuel Paty, are the threats and rumors on social networks still relevant? Elements of response on the set of 19/20 info, Wednesday March 27, with the digital risks specialist Nicolas Arpagian, vice-president of the firm Headmind Partners.
The assassination of Samuel Paty was preceded by threats and rumors on social networks. More than three years after his death, have we made progress in the fight against this type of phenomenon?
Nicolas Arpagian, vice-president of Headadmind Partners, a specialist in digital risks, insists on the need “to distinguish social network platforms, which are places for the exchange of information, between people who participate in communities of interest” with “what happened to digital workspaces, which are tools that, by nature, are made to share information between teachers, family and students”.
A “fairly limited” number of abusive uses
This is, according to the digital risk specialist, “the reason why it is an area of growth when we want to have the circulation of text messages and videos”. Considering the millions of users and weekly connections, it nevertheless reports a number of abusive uses “fairly limited”.
“These are not very complex attacks, on the other hand they are very symbolic, and can have a psychological effect on the recipients of these publications”concludes Nicolas Arpagian.
