An exhibition that resonates like an asserting trend. “Small is beautiful” is a meeting dedicated to miniature art. A poetic and magical world that finds an echo on social networks.
It seems that everything that is small is cute, and that it’s not the size that matters. Miniature enthusiasts will not say the opposite. In her closet, Stéphanie Houdaille, creator of “Steph’s workshop”, has set up a workshop, where his mini world comes to life. She makes tiny foods out of polymer clay, a kind of plasticine. As Christmas approaches, she has to fulfill orders for her website. After modeling and coloring, it’s time to bake the miniatures, in the oven, like real cakes. With confinement, she left behind the job of maternal assistant to devote herself to her devouring passion for miniatures, which soothes her.
And we have to believe that it is contagious. On social networks, many of them are passionate about the infinitely small, recreating scenes from everyday life. Attention to detail, to the point of obsession. The miniature is trendy, it has even become an art and finds its place in museums. In Paris, an exhibition is dedicated to him and emerging artists. “Many come from the world of street art too. So these artists, with the miniature, also reproduce these messages that they want to convey”, says Serge Victoria, producer of the exhibition “Small is beautiful” (Galerie Joseph, Paris).
