The Normandy regional health agency is calling on 1,145 patients of a Cherbourg dentist to be screened for a low risk of transmission of hepatitis B, C, as well as HIV, reports France Bleu Cotentin on Tuesday December 12, confirming information from La Presse de la Manche.

The doctor was suspended for five months by the ARS, which noted serious failings in his office, located rue de l’Ancien Quai, which “endanger the safety of staff, the quality and safety of care”. In this situation, health authorities apply the precautionary principle.

The patients concerned will therefore each receive a letter at home to inform them of the situation. They will then have to go to their doctor before carrying out the necessary screenings. Those who do not have a GP can go directly to a free information, screening and diagnosis center (CEGIDD).

The tests can be carried out with a simple blood test. Treating doctors, dentists and analysis laboratories in the sector are informed of the situation to be able to guide patients.
