In front of the courthouse in Beirut (Lebanon), a demonstration escalated. Clashes took place and the latest report shows six dead and thirty wounded.
In Beirut (Lebanon) on Thursday, October 14, a demonstration was held in front of the city’s courthouse. Hezbollah supporters and their allies demanded the departure of Judge Tarek Bitar, in charge of the investigation into the explosion that hit the port of the capital. The mobilization ended up degenerating. Rifle fire took place in the streets of the city, plunging the population into panic. According to the latest report, six people died and around thirty injured are to be deplored.
The investigation into the explosion that hit the port of Beirut is struggling to move forward, more than a year after the tragedy. Hezbollah and other Lebanese politicians refuse to be questioned by Judge Tarek Bitar. The former prime minister and four former ministers were summoned for indictment but they never showed up.
