Didier Lemaire, former philosophy teacher, placed under police protection for several months, is present on the set of 19/20 info, Wednesday March 27. He raises the question of the protection of teaching staff, while a principal threatened on the networks has just left his position for “security issues”.
Didier Lemaire wrote an open letter after the death of Samuel Paty, following which he became a target of the Islamist movement. The former philosophy professor had lived for many months under police protection. Faced with the situation of the principal of the Maurice-Ravel high school, he says he feels “sadness, anger also because there is a state scandal there.“
“The principal was not protected”, he affirms, believing that it is a “defeat for the school and the Republic“, using the words of Gabriel Attal.
“Many teachers are displaced without knowing it”
He believes that the government should have “put in place security measures until the time of retirement” of the principal. The latter wrote a letter in which he explains that his decision to leave is linked to the threats that have weighed on him for a month. However, he was to retire a few months later.
Didier Lemaire reminds us that there is protection “functional, which is a legal protection” and which can be followed by a “police accompaniment.” He finally explains that following threats or altercations,”many teachers are displaced without it being known, because they themselves do not want to let it be known in order to continue working.”
