A deal point from the Bayard towers of Pontcharra, in Isère, “whose profitability was estimated at 100,000 euros” per month has been dismantled, announced the Grenoble public prosecutor’s office on Saturday September 28, confirming information from Dauphiné Libéré. THE “eight main people responsible for this trafficking, seven adults aged 18 to 37 and a minor aged 17”, were referred on Friday and indicted for “trafficking in narcotics, participation in a criminal association, money laundering, possession and sale of counterfeit cigarettes”, details the Grenoble public prosecutor, Éric Vaillant. Six of them, including the minor, were placed in pre-trial detention, the other two under judicial supervision.

The investigations, which began last March, allowed investigators to “characterize the well-structured organization that powered this deal point and identify the protagonists, resellers, suppliers, and owners”according to the prosecutor. A “major legal operation” concluded this investigation last Tuesday: 167 gendarmes from Isère and Savoie simultaneously invaded 19 sites in the two departments and arrested 13 people.

During the searches, investigators found “more than 200 000 euros in cash, one kilogram of cannabis resin, 800 grams of cocaine, 39 canisters of nitrous oxide, 725 packets of counterfeit cigarettes, three hunting rifles and three handguns with their ammunition.”details Éric Vaillant. They also seized, “for money laundering”, “five vehicles, leather goods, clothing and luxury objects, coins, jewelry and gold bars as well as computer and electronic equipment representing a total value of several dozen thousands of euros”he continues.

The prosecution adds that the gendarmes will continue their operations in this district of Pontcharra, “with the aim of lastingly drying up the deal point and dissuading consumers from going there.”
