Parents, children, or simply dog lovers met this Saturday April 23, 2022 on the lawn of the Prado beaches in Marseille. On the program for this day “A dog in the city”, demonstrations of all kinds to discover the trades related to canines. For this third edition (launched in 2018) led by Animedis veterinarians and supported by the City, rescue dogs showed their know-how in the harbor of Marseille… in front of the amazed eyes of children! The kids have discovered the profession of veterinarian with operations on stuffed dogs.
Towards an animal welfare charter in Marseille
Committed to this operation, the City of Marseille wants to show its attachment to animal welfare. Deputy mayor in charge of the environment, Christine Juste also announces that the town hall is currently working with veterinarians and other associations for the creation ofan animal welfare charter. The goal is to reflect on the place of animals in the city and to enforce animal rights in Marseille. This charter would thus make it possible to prohibit the sale of animals and to regulate the arrival of circuses in the city.
Bed bug sniffing dogs
But dogs are more a part of Marseille life than you might think. They are regularly mobilized for public service missions. Dogs work with the firefighters, others with the police. Some are even able to sniffing out bed bugs, or detecting the coronavirus.
The animal in the city is also the problems of hygiene and cleanliness on the sidewalks of Marseille. It is difficult to find a suitable place to walk your pet. The city has very few dog parks. Sector town halls are currently considering adding new parksdespite the lack of suitable places.
