A vehicle sank into the Rivière des Prairies early Sunday morning in the Ahuntsic-Cartierville district. A large rescue operation is underway.
According to witnesses, the vehicle was traveling northbound on Saint-Hubert Street around 4:45 a.m. when it plunged into the river.
A man was seen in the water near the car before it was completely submerged, said Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the Montreal City Police Service (SPVM).
A vast rescue operation was launched to find the occupant(s) of the vehicle.
Divers from the SPVM and responders from the Canadian Coast Guard are participating in the research.
