On social networks, more and more young children are reproducing the gestures of adult beauty influencers on video. Why is this practice dangerous?
They are less than fourteen years old and have already mastered the codes of beauty influencers. On social networks, videos of young girls putting on makeup have millions of views. These young influencers are called the “Sephora Kids”. Preteen girls addicted to beauty products who raid the store’s shelves. The phenomenon was popularized in the United States. Now the trend is spreading in France.
Mothers are worried about the phenomenon. Concealers, anti-aging serums and firming creams are particularly popular with these young girls. These products would be unsuitable because children’s skin is more fragile. In the worst cases, they can cause irritation.
