Wanted for a year, after escaping from prison, the godfather of the Italian mafia, Marco Raduano, was arrested in Corsica on Thursday February 1st.

Until his arrest, Thursday 1er February evening, Marco Raduano, 40, was on the run and was a priority target for Italian and European authorities. This mafia boss was dining with a woman in Corsica when he was arrested by Italian carabinieri and French gendarmes. In February 2023, he escaped from a high security prison in Sardinia. Nicknamed angel face, he is said to be one of the leaders of the fourth mafia in Italy, that of Puglia.

He should be extradited to Italy

This little-known organization has been very active for several years. “It is a mafia associated with violence. There is the threat, accidents on construction sites, equipment destroyed“, explains Clotilde Champeyrache, researcher at the CNAM and specialist in mafias. Italian justice has issued more than 80 arrest warrants against the members of the organization, who are being hunted down with impressive means. Marco Raduano was presented at the Palace of justice of Bastia (Haute-Corse) with a view to extradition to Italy.
