A cyclist fatally struck in Montreal

A cyclist in his 40s died Tuesday after being hit by a truck. Police are still looking for the driver involved in the traffic accident.

The fatal collision occurred around 11:20 a.m. at the corner of boulevard de Maisonneuve Est and avenue Papineau, according to agent Jean-Pierre Brabant, of the Service de police de la Ville de Montréal (SPVM). The tanker was traveling northbound on Papineau Avenue.

“The cyclist would have fallen at the same time as the truck passed the intersection”, explains the agent Brabant. The police are still looking for the driver of the truck involved in this event.

He continued on his way towards the South Shore of Montreal on the Jacques-Cartier bridge. Access to the bridge is also limited. The SPVM investigation will shed light on the circumstances of this tragedy.
