A curfew has been declared in certain districts of Fort-de-France from Wednesday evening due to the violence, the prefecture announced.

It will come into effect from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (local time) in certain specific areas.

The violent movements against the high cost of living in Martinique are taking a new turn. A curfew was declared in certain districts of Fort-de-France on Wednesday, September 18, due to the violence, the prefecture announced. It will come into effect from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. (local time) from Wednesday in the port area, the roads around the Dillon hypermarket up to Jambette in Fort-de-France, details Martinique the 1st. For several nights, urban violence has been shaking certain districts of Fort-de-France. The prefecture also claims that significant reinforcements are arriving from Guyana and Guadeloupe.
