In the Tarn, justice ruled in favor of a couple who considered wind turbines to be harmful to their health. This decision spells the end of a legal battle lasting nearly six years.

In the Haut-Languedoc regional park, wind turbines are installed near the accommodation of a couple of Belgians living in the region. Despite the mist, the wind turbines can be seen thanks to the sound of the blades. Victims of various ailments, Luc and Kristel Fockaert notice that health problems go away when they are away from their home. “We felt really overwhelmed by the presence of these machines”, explains Luc Fockaert. After having permanently moved a few kilometers, the Fockaert couple no longer suffers from symptoms related to wind turbines.

For six years, the couple fought in court in order to be heard and to be understood. Finally, the Toulouse Court of Appeal decides to prove them right, arguing that “Aeolian syndrome is recognized, and demonstration of abnormal neighborhood disturbances is established”. This decision is a great first in France. The end of a long six-year battle, which makes the couple happy. The decision rendered by justice could incite many French victims of similar situations because of wind turbines.
