A couple was arrested and placed in police custody on Sunday March 11, after the discovery of a kilo of explosive at their home in Lyon (Rhône), franceinfo learned on Monday from a source close to the case, confirming information from the Parisian. The Lyon public prosecutor’s office specifies that these two people are in police custody for “violations of weapons legislation”.

A kilo of TATP (acetone peroxide) – an explosive – was seized from the couple’s home located in the 8th arrondissement of Lyon. It is more precisely the woman who is suspected of making explosives in their home and offering them for sale on social networks, notably Snapchat. Two phones were also seized as well as a false identity card and a booklet of Salafist literature.

The merchandise was destroyed

Still from a source close to the case, the deminers had to intervene to secure the accommodation. Due to the dangerous nature of the material seized, the merchandise was destroyed. The Raid also went to the site to allow the arrest of the couple, already known to the justice system. The man was in fact the subject of an investigation sheet relating to a sentence of six months in prison for a drug-related matter.

The Lyon public prosecutor’s office indicates that investigations are still underway within the Organized and Specialized Crime Division (DCOS, ex-PJ). From a source close to the case, the National Anti-Terrorism Prosecutor’s Office (Pnat) is assessing the situation at this stage.
