A Costco… with 800 units on the roof!

An American property management company plans to add its own touch to the creation of a Costco warehouse store in Los Angeles, as it plans to build some 800 homes above the store’s roof.

In a statement, Thrive Living claims that the initiative to build residential units on the roof of a Costco would be a world first.

The housing crisis is hitting California hard, where apartment prices are very high. Many citizens have no choice but to live on the street or in their car.

“Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass said there was an urgent real estate crisis, so we answered the call,” said Jordan Brill, a representative for the real estate agency.

He claims to want to offer housing to all social classes in California. In fact, nearly one in four units will be affordable.

In addition to the 800 apartments planned, the company Thrive Living wants to build a pharmacy and a fresh produce kiosk near Costco.

A representative of a local organization is delighted to see such a project moving forward.

“This is great news for us. We are happy at the idea of having a quality living environment and taking advantage of the benefits of Costco,” says Brenda Ashby.
