A video relayed on social networks criticizes the management of the health crisis in Shanghai (China) where very strict confinement has been in place for almost a month.

It is a video that did not please the Chinese authorities. A long sequence shot shows Shanghai (China) seen from the sky with, in the background, the cries of despair of the confined inhabitants. We also hear a woman explain that there is, for example, “no more beds available at the hospital, no more places in the quarantine centers, no more ambulances or emergency numbers”. Massively shared on Chinese social networks, the video completely disappeared in a few hours.

Zero Covid policy in China

For almost a month, the 25 million inhabitants of Shanghai have been subjected to very strict confinement. The only ones on the streets are the motorcycle delivery men who supply the population and those who have been summoned for a compulsory Covid test. 7,000 French people are there and some are starting to lose patience. This situation is the result of the zero Covid policy implemented by China. At the slightest increase in cases, very strict restrictions are introduced and patients are exfiltrated to quarantine centres. Officially, 34,000 new cases of Covid-19 were recorded on Friday April 22 in the country, including 17,000 in Shanghai, and 43 deaths.
