Jean-Yves Mano, president of the Consumption, Housing and Framework of Life (CLCV) association, called on Franceinfo on Friday, November 12, for alternative electricity suppliers to follow in EDF’s footsteps, which announced the end of the stopping power cuts for unpaid bills: “We are expecting from them an announcement of no systematic power cut from April [fin de la trêve hivernale]”, did he declare.
Instead of these cuts, EDF plans to reduce the electrical power supplied to customers in difficulty so as to guarantee minimum service. “When we distribute an essential product, that we take solidarity measures seems absolutely essential to me”, he said.
“It is unthinkable in our country to have families without electricity, an essential need. And the fact of not cutting, in the name of EDF, it is the recognition of the essential need for electricity.”

Jean-Yves Mano sent a message to alternative suppliers: “We cannot benefit from extremely favorable tariffs for nuclear electricity to go and steal customers from EDF for months and months and years, and not have a potential return of solidarity between the entire population and for the most precarious people “, he says.
According to him, the decision of EDF “cannot be provisional. One would not understand a step back.”
