>>> Domestic violence: five questions about the Adrien Quatennens affair, which embarrasses La France insoumise
Last month, the Lille prosecutor’s office opened an investigation for domestic violence against the deputy La France insoumise just after learning of the first handrail filed by Céline Quatennens and revealed on September 13 by Le Canard enchaîné.
On September 18, Adrien Quatennens stepped down from his position as coordinator of La France insoumise “to protect the movement”. In a press release, he then admitted having, during various disputes, “gave a slap” to his wife, to have him “grab the wrist”, “took his cell phone”or “sent too many messages”.
On September 24, Céline Quatennens had filed a second handrail at the Lille police station to report that, since the initial events, her husband had been sending her text messages in very large numbers. Adrien Quatennens was heard on Monday September 26 in a free hearing at the Lille police station. From a source close to the case, the deputy admitted to having slapped his wife, having pushed her against a wall and having sent her numerous SMS.
“This complaint has no impact on the current procedure since it comes within the framework of a preliminary investigation already in progress and is limited to repeating the elements contained in the two daybooks without adding any new element.u”, reacts this Monday the lawyer of Adrien Quatennens, Jane Dousselin, in a press release sent to franceinfo. “Once again we can only call for respect for the judicial principles of presumption of innocence and secrecy of the investigation to allow Justice to do its job serenely.“, she writes.
