At New York, this summer, several massage specialists will see the arrival of Aescape AI, an artificial intelligence that promises to massage you like a pro. Imagine, vou lie down on the massage table, nothing more classic so far, vou put on an anti-friction suit and Now, it starts to be surprising. Once lying down, a robot in the shape of two enormous white arms, capable of pivoting on more than 15 axes, its mission will be to massage you. A fully automated and customizable experience.
Eric Litman, founder of Aescape in 2017, was looking for a cure for his chronic pain. He also wanted to offer an alternative to people who do not like to be touched and to alleviate the shortage of staff in spas. Eventually, 80 million dollars were invested in research and development to create a robot ready to conquer the massage market. This robotic massager aims above all to compete with the automated massage chairs found in many spas, airports and nail salons.
A blogger deplores a lack of gentleness and humanity
Blogger Ana Altchek, whose grandparents ran a spa in Paris, tested this new generation massager. The robot begins by scanning your body using over a million body points stored in its memory. The AI then suggests 20 different massage options. A screen then displays the massage in progress, while broadcasting music and nature videos. Both arms, whose ends are heated, do the rest. Ana found this automated massage impressive, but deplores a lack of gentleness and humanity. She prefers humans to machines. Note that in the event of a bug, such as too much pressure from the robot, an emergency button allows you to stop the massages.
