a comic book on geriatric professions

The old age law and the plan on aging well seek to encourage seniors to remain at home. It is also about upgrading professions linked to old age, including geriatrics. And there is an association intended for these professionals. She published a comic strip to inform caregivers, seniors and caregivers about geriatric professions.

See geriatrics differently. (CREATIVECOMMON (cc).)

The Association of Young Geriatricians (AJG) is a 1901 Law association, founded in 2001 with varied actions (annual days, webinars, Gazette of the young Geriatrician, bibliographies). This is why the AJG released the educational comic Elementary, my dear geriatrician, which seeks to promote exchanges and sharing of knowledge between its members, as well as scientific research in the different fields of gerontology.

The association also wants to bring together geriatricians at the start of their careers, because the image of geriatrics is an issue. The AJG brings together around 300 members, throughout France, but also in Quebec, Switzerland and Belgium.

“We have a population specialty, that is to say we are not interested in a type of disease or an organ, but we have a whole range of diverse and complex problems for which we treat people. people. It’s a way of being an expert in an elderly population, while also being a general practitioner, able to care for patients for a range of health problems, which is what makes one not s “never gets boring, and that we really thrive in geriatrics.”

In this book, the AJG explains what geriatric teams actually do. When and why should you contact them? What care do they provide?

The eight situations described in this book are inspired by the experiences of geriatricians and those of their colleagues. The story told is not a documentary: the AJG has chosen to allow the freedom of the artists to be expressed. : “with humor, poetry and seriousness, they illustrated highlights when a geriatrics team can be useful to an elderly person and those around them.”

The work is available free of charge, since June 9, 2023, subject to covering shipping costs. (ASSOCIATION OF YOUNG GERIATISTS)

A comic for everyone

Intended primarily for health professionals not trained in geriatrics, this comic book can also be read by everyone. The Association of Young Geriatricians (AJG) has produced, in collaboration with The Ink Link*, this comic strip to tell the story of geriatric professions and inform caregivers, elderly people and caregivers.

*The Ink Link supports actors in the social and solidarity economy who act for a more united and inclusive society, in the creation of information tools for vulnerable populations or the general public. Thanks to the work of comic artists, editors and experts, the association carries out illustrated projects, which increase the power to act in the areas of health, respect for gender rights, the right to asylum, environment or education.
