“58% of practices will close within five years”alerted this Monday on franceinfo Gaëlle Cannat, president of the Collective of Angry Liberal Nurses who is calling for snail operations around several large cities in France, notably Marseille, Gap, Bayonne, Bordeaux and Dijon.

Liberal nurses are demanding a revaluation of their actions. “It hasn’t been revalued for fifteen years. With the inflation we’ve had for fifteen years, I’ll let you imagine what state we’re in financially”, she explained. To earn a decent income, nurses are sometimes forced to work long days: “We have an hourly rate which is very low since we work 50 hours per week”she continued.

The mobilization of farmers gave ideas to the collective of angry liberal nurses: “We tried, throughout last year, to meet all the elected officials to raise awareness of the difficulties of our profession. In fact, we got nowhere. When we saw that the farmers were taking to the streets, we We said to ourselves, we’re going to show ourselves. We’re going to show that our profession is suffering.”, told Gaëlle Cannat. She feels like she belongs “a profession you never hear about”.

During the Covid crisis, nurses were on the front line. Since then, Gaëlle Cannat has not seen the slightest recognition from the government: “We were often the only ones to be with people. We hoped that our profession would be revalued. That was not the case. We did not have the Ségur de la santé, we had nothing from everything. The practices are closing one after the other”. She fears that “nursing deserts” appear in the coming years. “It’s going to be a real worry for the population”she says.

The Collective of Angry Liberal Nurses wishes to be received by the new Minister of Health Frédéric Valletoux: “We want to ask him if our death is planned because they don’t give us a salary, they take away our care, they close the practices and we turn a blind eye to it. That’s the feeling we have …”she says

The Collective of Angry Liberal Nurses calls all liberal nurses in France to a demonstration next Saturday.
