Since the release of the book “Les Fossoyeurs”, the testimonies of families of residents of Ehpad, who say they are mistreated, have multiplied. Some intend to regroup to carry out a collective action in justice.

The revelations of the book The Gravediggers shocked him. Now, Sophie Mayer wants to testify. According to her, her mother died a few months after being left for 24 hours with both legs broken in her room at Ehpad Orpea, in 2018. “We arrive at the hospital, where I found mum in tears, suffering martyrdom, telling me that she had called, that no one had come. Something dreadful”, she remembers.

“The doctor, indeed seeing all the bedsores on mum’s body, plus the fall, and seeing her lack of mobility, said there was suspicion of abuse”, continues Sophie Mayer. In full mourning, she tries to confront the management of the nursing home, who replies: “Older people don’t feel pain.” Today, Sophie Mayer wants to file a complaint with other families in a class action led by lawyer Me Sarah Saldmann. The Orpea group announced on Sunday January 30 the dismissal of the managing director and appointed a replacement.
