Scott McGillivray has worked with Mobilia for several years. “The relationship really started organically when we were researching products for our TV shows and working with clients. We were looking for a Canadian company that offered furniture with a beautiful design, of course, but also products of lasting quality,” he says, in English.
By dint of exchanges and discussions, the idea of a collection in partnership germinated. “Using the products and the trust we have built over the years has sparked the desire to create a collection that is both modern and timeless with the durability that customers are looking for. Also, Mobilia is a Canadian company, and it’s important for me to support local businesses. The businessman also says he is very proud that 30 products from the collection are made locally.
A great sofa
Design work began about a year ago, and Scott and his team decided to start with the centerpiece of the living room: the couch. “We made the awesome NASH modular sofa. We really wanted to offer a product that would adapt to different surfaces, but that would also allow families to reconfigure their space according to their needs. So we chose a design that can appeal to everyone, and Mobilia sent us several color and material samples,” he says.
The choice fell on a durable material and a neutral color that adapts to all decors. Then, the collection developed around the sofa with accessories and other furniture, including an armchair, a coffee table and a side table.

The importance of sustainability
Scott McGillivray says he is very happy with the result, a timeless yet contemporary collection. “It’s not always easy to do, something that’s both classic and trendy. To achieve this, we used a lot of natural materials, such as wood and marble, as well as beautiful fabrics,” he explains.
“I also like to have a bit of texture because it makes everything very comfortable and cozy. The key here was also to choose durable colors. He therefore opted for accessories in navy, grey, caramel, beige and vitamin orange, which are colors that you never get tired of. Finally, cushions and paintings with abstract motifs brighten up the plain colors in addition to creating a relaxed atmosphere.
The Mobilia x Scott McGillivray collection will be available in stores and on the Mobilia website starting November 14.
