While the idea of a coalition between the right and the majority after the European elections is once again gaining ground, François-Xavier Bellamy, head of the Les Républicains (LR) list, assures that such a rapprochement “will never happen in life”.

The outgoing MEP cites as proof the “loyalty” and the “constancy” LR elected officials: “People committed to the right have had a thousand times the opportunity to move to another camp, to put the flag in their pocket. Committing to the right is not the choice of comfort. Our elected officials lead every day the fight against macronism”.

If the President (LR) of the Senate, Gérard Larcher, calls for conclusions to be drawn from the European ballot, faced with the prospect of an overwhelming victory for the National Rally (RN), François-Xavier Bellamy believes that the dissolution of the Assembly national “is not for a single second the subject of these elections”.

And faced with the announced duel between the RN and the majority, François-Xavier Bellamy denounces a “absurd staging” orchestrated by both camps. He points to the “revolting nature of the maneuver imposed today” by the Head of State, Emmanuel Macron “as if the only opposition was the RN”. “The real debate in these elections is the divide between right and left in Europe”he concludes.
