An 8-year-old child died on Monday July 3 in a collision with a car on Avenue de Wagram in Paris, in the 8th arrondissement, near the Champs-Elysées, according to information from France Bleu Paris.
The incident occurred around 11 p.m. The circumstances of the accident are not yet known. An investigation is underway, indicates the Paris police headquarters.
The victim was crossing the pedestrian crossing with her parents when she was hit by the taxi which would have restarted at the green light without seeing her, according to the prosecution.
The taxi driver was arrested and taken into custody for manslaughter by driver, according to the prosecution. The investigations were entrusted to the Judicial Accident Processing Service. The first tests for alcohol and narcotics are negative, said the prosecution.
