A child dies after a dog sledding accident in Saint-Michel-des-Saints

A 13-year-old child died following a dog sledding accident on Monday in Saint-Michel-des-Saints, in the Lanaudière region.

The authorities went to Rue des Aulnaies shortly before noon to evacuate a 13-year-old child who was injured following an impact with a tree.

According to information from Frédéric Deshaies, spokesperson for the Sûreté du Québec (SQ), the investigation tends to show that the child was on the dog sled when the driver lost control of it.

The boy, a French tourist who came to Quebec with his family, was transferred to a hospital center, where he succumbed to his injuries.

An investigation is underway to establish the causes and circumstances of this event.
