Since January 9, TF1 has offered its viewers a new morning show entitled “Bonjour!”, presented by Bruce Toussaint and hosted by several columnists and speakers. With this new program, the first channel has established direct competition with France 2, which has been offering a similar program broadcast early in the morning for decades, Telematin.
Against all expectations, the two channels did not hesitate to discuss this little emerging rivalry, since the announcement of the launch of this daily news. In an interview given to the magazine Télé 2 Semaines, this Friday February 16, 2024, Thomas Sotto and Marie Portolano, who present Télématin, talk about this competition. “We are cautious. If the front page had gone ahead, it would have been a cataclysm. But ‘Télématin’ has existed for almost forty years, so it is not a surprise that it remains at the top a month later” analyzed Thomas Sotto.
“The arrival of ‘Hello!’ took us out of a form of routine and forced us to sit down during December to see what we could boost in the show, such as now placing the celebrity guest around the table and no longer on the red armchairs. But it’s through the content that we interest the public or not”, added the man who acts as Laurent Delahousse’s joker on “8 p.m. adds the journalist.
Marie Portolano cash on her meeting with Bruce Toussaint
To counter their new rivals, the France 2 teams therefore focused on a few changes and modernization elementsstarting with the establishment of a health column, hosted by the former Miss France who became a general practitioner, Marine Ltemporel but also a new humorous touch hosted by Marc-Antoine Le Bret.
For her part, Marie Portolano smiles and declares: “I met Bruce Toussaint recently at a party. As a joke, he told me he was going to push me down the stairs”. The presenter who has just arrived on France Télévisions then qualifies: “He’s very nice. It’s not war between us”.
