In Cantal, a farm takes part in an experiment reducing the carbon footprint, while saving money.
With the naked eye, hard to see a difference. However, on this farm, the carbon footprint has come under scrutiny. “We have a product that is virtuous and healthy. For the consumer, this is very important. If in addition to the side of the carbon footprint it is felt, we are beneficial on both sides”, rejoices Frédéric Capsenroux, farmer. A low-carbon farm, Frédéric took the plunge into experimentation a few weeks ago with the help of Sara, the department’s referent.
700 European farms concerned
Exclusive grass feeding, earlier calving and planting of hedges, in five years Frédéric could produce 244 tonnes less CO2, equivalent to the annual consumption of 30 French people, all while saving money. In Europe, 700 farms are taking part in the “Life Carbon Farming” experiment, including 30 in Cantal.
