A motorist forced a roadblock set up on the occasion of the loops of the Seine half-marathon, Sunday, October 24 in Caudebec-lès-Elbeuf (Seine-Maritime), slightly injuring a volunteer of the organization, reports France Bleu Normandy. This volunteer had tried to come between the runners and the car.
“All morning and this Saturday, the volunteers and the mobilized municipal agents were yelled at, insulted and some even tried to force their way. Only so as not to ‘waste’ a few seconds or a few minutes on the road!”, wrote in a Facebook post the mayor of the city Laurent Bonnaterre, who is launching with France Bleu Normandie a “call for calm”.
“We had to ensure the safety of the riders so there was a wait, a few seconds or even a few minutes”, he continues. The hand of the volunteer was caught by the retro of the motorist’s car as it passed the roadblock at the Town Hall roundabout. The motorist’s license plate was noted by witnesses present at the scene. He was then arrested by the police.
