A CAQ deputy asks mayors for the party fund

The CAQ member for Rousseau, Louis-Charles Thouin, approached the mayors of the MRC of Montcalm so that they would contribute to the fund of the Coalition Avenir Québec, in exchange for a meeting with the Minister of Transport, Geneviève Guilbault.

This is what reveals a series of exchanges obtained by The Canadian Press on Tuesday.

MP Louis-Charles Thouin therefore extended an invitation to the mayors of his constituency for a fundraising cocktail scheduled for February 8.

If elected officials pay $100, they will be able to speak with Ms. Guilbault, we can read in the message.

The CAQ deputy writes that he must raise funds for the next electoral campaign and that he wanted to propose a new formula, in his words.

The CAQ declined our interview request.

Remember that this is not the first time that such a financing approach undertaken by the CAQ has come to light.

Last week, Radio-Canada revealed that a citizen who wanted her MP, Sylvain Lévesque, to advance her file was offered to meet the Minister of Finance in exchange for a $100 contribution to the party fund. .

The Ethics Commissioner of the National Assembly, Ariane Mignolet, announced Monday that she was undertaking an investigation into the case of Sylvain Lévesque.
