Fabien Roussel held a meeting this Sunday in Marseille in front of 3000 people. The candidate of the French Communist Party (PCF) is rising in the polls and increasing support, sometimes against his political side.
Security, immigration, nuclear: Fabien Roussel’s sentences on certain subjects appeal to the right, but also to certain members of the government. Interior Minister Gérald Darmanin thus explains that he is a “friend“, when that of the Economy Bruno Le Maire describes it as “Very kind“.
The communist candidate Fabien Roussel, who wishes to broaden his base, welcomes these declarations. With his sometimes astonishing clear-cut positions, he borrows from Communist Party figures such as Georges Marchais, particularly on immigration. In the polls, Fabien Roussel is currently on par with the socialist candidate Anne Hidalgo, but remains behind the candidate of the Insoumis Jean-Luc Mélenchon.
