March is the month of baby plants, an initiative launched by horticulturist Mélanie Grégoire to raise funds for research and care in neonatology.
The instigator of this fundraising campaign (of which Marie-Claude Barrette is the ambassador this year) herself gave birth to a very premature baby in April 2020 and spent more than two months in the hospital with her son Laurent.
Half of the amount collected will be donated to neonatology research, and the other half to the neonatal unit in the region in which the plant was purchased.
The plants, grown here, are sold until March 31 (at a cost of $9.99), online, at IGA or in participating garden centers.
