Gynecologist Emile Daraï, accused of raping patients, is due to speak at a colloquium organized by the National College of French Gynecologists and Obstetricians on Wednesday in Paris.

The collective “Stop obstetrical and gynecological violence” calls for a mobilization on Wednesday May 11 at 8:30 a.m. in front of the Parc Convention Center at Porte de Versailles in Paris, to denounce the intervention of gynecologist Emile Daraï, accused of raping patients, in a symposium on women’s health.
“It is scandalous that he is a speaker and therefore put forward by the National College of French Gynecologists and Obstetricians (CNGOF)”is alarmed the collective, claiming to have collected “190 testimonies of gynecological violence” against the teacher.
In its press release, the collective assures that the intervention of the former head of the endometriosis center of the Tenon hospital in Paris had been deprogrammed at first, after the revelation of the accusations against him. He therefore wonders why the CNGOF, which is organizing the “Paris Santé Femmes” symposium, has changed its mind.
The StopVOG collective also deplores the fact that the gynecological consultations and the professor’s operations were not suspended during the time of the instruction. “While respecting the presumption of innocence, it is URGENT to guarantee the safety of patients”, he insists. The AP-HP has nevertheless dismissed the gynecologist from his position as head of the endometriosis center at the Tenon hospital in Paris.
In a press release published Monday, May 9, the CNGOF says “aware of the emotion aroused by the presence of Professor Emile Daraï during his national congress”, but wishes to recall that “Professor E. Daraï has not, to date, been convicted by French justice and that the presumption of innocence is a strong principle of our country”recalling that the gynecologist is authorized to work and that he is also always invited to international congresses.
Emile Daraï has been the subject of a judicial investigation since last January for “violence by a person in charge of a public service mission” potentially on 25 patients. As franceinfo revealed in September 2021, he is the subject of several complaints, in particular for “rape” and “violence” during medical acts, before which he is accused of not having requested the consent of his patients.
