The toll is heavy, and the victims are still in a state of shock. First evacuated to a reception center then taken care of after the tragedy, the passengers, accompanying young adults and around forty children left the scene at the end of the afternoon, repatriated by bus or directly by their parents, in Normandy. A young passenger died.
The group was going to the Hautes-Alpes
According to the latest elements of the investigation, the driver, aged around sixty, dozed off. However, he would have respected the 24 hours of rest prior to the trip according to the transport company. His alcohol and drug tests are negative, and the bus’s technical inspection is up to date. The group, a holiday camp on its way to skiing, had left Les Andelys in Eure, and was due to reach a resort in the Hautes-Alpes. State services, including “a psychological emergency unit“, are deployed.
