The sun should be out on Saturday March 16, for the start of spring for the classics inaugurated by Milan-San Remo. Impressive winner for his back-to-school race, already in Italy on the Strade Bianche, Tadej Pogacar is the favorite to win one of the two monuments missing from his list of achievements. He shares this status with Mathieu van der Poel, winner last year. The Frenchman Christophe Laporte could also join the fight, like Mads Pedersen or Matej Mohoric, winner in 2022.
The “Classicissima” is one of the longest races of the season (288 kilometers), but also one of those with the most explosive finish, the wind can blow up at any time along the seaside. The traditional Passages at Cipressa and Poggio in the final kilometers should again make the decision, especially as many of the favorites will want to anticipate a possible final sprint in San Remo.
