A book to have at home: DR. HOUSE PLANTS

Who is the author ?

William DAVIDSON is an English-language plant journalist.
The guide was originally published by Hardie Grant Books, an international publisher ) which specializes in environmental advocacy, circular economy, etc.
He had already co-authored a book on houseplants with Ray BILTON in 2003, as well as a book on training German Shorthaired Pointers.

The book :

It is a guide for amateurs to successfully maintain their indoor plants.
Translated from English by Elisabeth LUC the title offers us a play on words since the cover of the book in English is Houseplants published by Aura Garden Handbooks. In French this gives: Dr. House plants.
There are about forty well-known plants, with the care they require but also the most frequent problems they can cause us with their parasites.

It’s quite complete and easy to read, to have at home, not necessarily to read from cover to cover but as needed.

The only downside I would put is on means of control because insecticides are often recommended. This book is based on what was done elsewhere a few years ago and is no longer very well suited to new French practices, but for that, you still have the Sunday garden show!

In addition there are explanations on the choice of plants, on the lighting of the rooms, the watering and the fertilizers.

A generously illustrated book of photos by Janneke LUURSEMA, talented photographer but also florist. Published in French by Flammarion.
