The project is eagerly awaited as this book has become a reference on CA Brive. There will be a second book “Rugby au cœur”, as announced by the club and the CABCL alumni last June.
The first volume sold over 8,000 copies
As its name suggests, “Rugby au cœur 2” follows the first volume written at the time of the 100 years of the CAB. This book, which weighs several kilos and which contains 750 (!!) compiled pages of local and sports history, already makes reference. It had sold more than 8,000 copies. Except that the story ended in 2009, when the book was printed. The objective is therefore to pick up where the authors left off the story.
“Rugby at the heart 2” will therefore be written identically as Rugby at the heart first of the name. “The coverage will be the same” adds Jean-Jacques Gourdy, who is in charge of communication around this project. “The interior will be organized in exactly the same way, ie season by season. There will be results, statistics, players, matches, etc.” He will also show “the evolution of rugby through CA Brive, financial problems, medical problems, but also infrastructure.”
About 250 pages are planned and written by several hands
The book will not be as heavy as the first, but it will still be over 250 pages. A titanic job for the teams of Jean-Jacques Gourdy and Pierre Besson. “The writers each have a part to do. Some will write anecdotes, about the different seasons, or some will research what exactly happened and what are the important games.” For this, they can count on an advantage over the first book: the archives of the National Rugby League as well as that of CA Brive. “The first book was only written from journalistic documents written at the time. league archives and the club. We find all the matches, all the points, statistics that did not exist at that time of the first Rugby au Coeur “
“We try not to forget anyone, everything, everything that makes the CAB part of the heritage of the city, the department and the region”
Testimonials from actors of the time
The new book will also deal with other stories around CAB, with testimonies that will be and have been collected for several months. “A large part will be made on amateurism and on amateur teams of the association “ promises Jean-Jacques Gourdy. “We will also deal with the arrival of all the sponsors, all the partners. We are going to talk the supporters too and the various supporters’ associations. “
It is moreover in another place of the heritage of Brive, the Halle Georges-Brassens, that this project will be presented from tomorrow and for the whole weekend during the Brive Book Fair.
