A ship under the Russian flag is prohibited from participating in the gathering of old frigates from Sète in the Hérault. The authorities fear public disorder.

While the European Union should pronounce a fifth salvo of sanctions against Russia, others are more anecdotal. In Sète (Hérault), the gathering of old frigates takes place. Among them, the Shtandart, a historical replica of an 18th century Russian ship, is no longer welcome.

If Vladimir Martus, Russian captain of the ship, understands that people can be against the boat, on the other hand he believes that “This boat is the boat of peace. We want to deliver a message: people should not hate each other or fight”. The crew is made up of several nationalities, including two Ukrainians. Following malicious messages on social networks, the Hérault prefecture invoked the risk of public order disturbances. Yet the ship is not owned by an oligarch. The sailors even say they are ready to welcome a Ukrainian family.
