a blocked TGV, cut roads, flooded cellars

On the evening of Friday August 5, wind and rain caused damage in Savoie. A train was stuck in the middle of the track at Argentinain Maurienne, between Epierre and Aiguebelle, by the fall of a tree on a catenary.

A TGV stuck in Argentina

The TGV, in the direction of Paris, remained stopped for more than an hour before being able to return to Epierre and take the second track still in operation. He was able to leave and continue his journey at 9:40 p.m. according to the SNCF penalty. About twenty passengers who had a connection in Lyon were picked up by a bus.

Roads cut, trees on fire

Several roads were cut until 10:15 p.m.: the RD 1006 in Argentina following the fall of a tree, the RD 213 between Villard-Benoît and Bonneval Tarentaise, following a mudslide. Road services were mobilized on several sites. The Savoy firefighters intervened several times on burning trees, struck by lightning. They were notably engaged on a burning tree in Saint-François-Longchamp in Maurienne as well as in Mery near Lac du Bourget.

Several flooded cellars

The soils being particularly dry, the rain caused some flooding of cellars this Friday evening, particularly in the Bauges, as well as in Ruffieux and Saint-Rémy-de-Maurienne.
