The action began in the middle of the afternoon. Farmers blocked the A62 motorway on Tuesday February 20, where traffic has been interrupted since 6 p.m. over approximately 70 km between Agen and Montauban, Vinci Autoroutes announced. “The situation could continue,” specifies in a press release the manager of this axis linking Bordeaux to Toulouse. From the end of the afternoon, the Lot-et-Garonnes prefecture called on motorists to exercise caution.
This action by farmers comes four days before the opening of the Agricultural Show and a month after a vast movement of anger among farmers caused the blocking of numerous roads.
The Prime Minister speaks on Wednesday on the agricultural crisis
At the end of January, the Lot-et-Garonne Rural Coordination had already blocked the A62 near Agen for almost a week, before breaking camp to improvise a convoy towards the Rungis market, south of Paris .
The government tried at the end of January to appease farmers with a series of announcements, but actions are increasing on the ground to obtain the first results before the opening of the Agricultural Show.
Prime Minister Gabriel Attal is due to devote a press conference on Wednesday morning to the agricultural crisis. On Monday, new strike operations by farmers took place in Marseille, in Bouches-du-Rhône. The demonstrators were once again demanding fair remuneration based on their production costs and fewer standards.
