A Béziers magistrate rescues a pregnant woman attacked outside the court

A magistrate from the Béziers court was witness to the assault of a woman near the court on the night of January 19 to 20. The latter had just left a late hearing, it was past midnight. The victim, a five-month-pregnant woman, was assaulted by two men and a woman. The three protagonists were heavily alcoholic.

The witness of this attack then helps him. First by alerting a team from the municipal police of Béziers, then by trying to calm the three alcoholics. Quickly on the spot, law enforcement then apprehends the three suspects before taking them to the Béziers police station.

Assaulted at her home, then in the street

The victim had first abused in her home by his own 31-year-old brother. The latter, who had been staying with her for several months, forced his sister to go to an ATM to withdraw cash. The victim will explain to the investigators that she was beaten up while she was on the ground. His ordeal had been stopped following the intervention of the magistrate.

After their custody, the suspects were remanded in custody awaiting trial for extortion with violence resulting in total incapacity for work not exceeding eight days.

Prison sentences

The latter, all equipped with a criminal record, had to explain themselves this Wednesday before the court of Béziers. They downplayed the accusations made by the victim (two days of ITT). The arguments did not convince.

The victim’s brother was sentenced to four years in prison. Identical sentence for his 53-year-old accomplice. The third defendant, 46, was sentenced to 30 months’ imprisonment, 12 of which were suspended. His involvement is different.

They all three went serve their sentence in prison.
