“I’m not a big fan of sequels, I think they always ruin the movies. Untouchables, Welcome to the Ch’tis And Titanic did not have any follow-up“, says Artus, interviewed with four of his actors in “Le Parisien” on the success of this comedy, which has already had more than 8.5 million admissions.
The film, which chooses to laugh with people with disabilities and not at their expense, is the surprise success of the year and already the biggest cinema success in France since the health crisis. Released on May 1, 2024, the film was still visible on more than 1,100 screens last week.
“In a few days, we will add twelve minutes of making-of to the end of the credits during the screenings.” says Artus, 36, who also plans “A behind-the-scenes documentary for 2025“, with the many images filmed during the shoot. The feature film is sold in around fifteen countries and was honored in May at the Cannes Film Festival, with the film crew climbing the steps.
For Artus, the dream would be to reach “the 11.5 million of Corniaud“ (1965), with Bourvil and Louis de Funès.This would put us in the top 10 of the biggest box office successes for a French production in France.“, emphasizes the one who wants to achieve a “a bit crazy western” : the adaptation of his play Duels at Davidéjonatown“.
Artus will also be on stage at the start of the school year with a one-man show.
