In Roissy, the most anticipated passenger of the day is in a crate: a brown bear, a four-month-old female. The cub was in Latvia last month, discovered wandering along a road without her mother in the wild. From Riga, she flies to France and a specialized shelter for animals in distress. The goal is to release her one day.

“Very good news, she came out of the box and she loaded Paulo. She tried to attack him. This is good news, because if we want to reintroduce her into the natural environment, that means that the man, she does not like him at all”, underlines Sébastien Muller, zoological director at La Tanière, in Nogent-le-Phaye, in Eure-et-Loir. No veterinarian is allowed to see her, the bear must become independent, learn to hunt, fish and be wary of humans. There are about 70 bears in the Pyrenees, they are also present in the Balkans and in northern Europe, for a total population of 18,000 bears, sometimes with tensions of cohabitation with humans.
