A Molotov cocktail thrown inside a brewery forced the partial evacuation of the building that houses the business, Wednesday morning, in Montreal North.
Authorities received a 911 call around 5:15 a.m. about an incendiary object at a licensed establishment located on Fleury Street East, near Saint-Michel Boulevard.
When the police arrived on the scene, they found flames inside the business, but the firefighters were able to bring the fire under control quickly.
Because the bar is in a commercial and residential building, firefighters had to temporarily evacuate occupants from upper-floor accommodations.
The damage caused to the licensed establishment is significant, but no one was injured, said spokesperson for the Montreal Police Department, Véronique Dubuc.
According to the first infirmations, witnesses would have heard the sound of a smashing of windows before noticing a vehicle with one or more suspects quickly leaving the scene.
