“A banana and an egg a day”

Rouslann is one of the striking faces of the blind auditions broadcast this Saturday March 16, 2024 on TF1. Although confronted with rugby, this new episode of
The Voice
saw its audiences increase, bringing together 3.64 million viewers but only 22.4% of housewives. It must be said that on France 2, the VI Nations tournament was a full house, culminating at 6.71 million fans of the oval ball, and 35.4% of housewives. The latter missed the lovely performance offered Rouslann, 20 year old young man from Ukrainecame to offer a very personal cover of I came to tell you that I’m leaving by Serge Gainsbourg. A song which inevitably brings him back to his previous life, and the choice he made to suddenly leave Ukraine, to try a new life in Belgium.

Questioned by our colleagues from Tele-Leisurethe twenty-year-old returned with emotion to the suffering he endured in Ukraine and which led him to flee to Belgium at the age of eighteen months: “I arrived in Belgium when I was one and a half years old. I have some memories from Ukraine, memories of the orphanage where they gave us bananas and eggs. It’s a very poor country and I remember that, that we didn’t eat much, and that the only meal we gave the children was a banana and an egg remembered the young man, who, de factohad time to escape the outbreak of the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, which emerged in 2014 and which has worsened since 2022.

He is looking for his biological parents, but the documents have been burned

Adopted by two Belgian parents, Rouslann wants to pay tribute to them, and to the chance they gave him to be able to live from his passion far from the poverty in which he was born and abandoned: “We pay tribute to the people who died (…) But this child died when he arrived in Belgium, since his departure from Ukraine. And at the same time, I say that I want to revive it through music” the singer testified with great philosophy.

Rouslann revealed that he never set foot in Ukraine again, and was never able to find his blood family: “I couldn’t find (her) because the documents, in Ukraine, when we adopt a child, are burned, or thrown away. So we cannot trace the biological parents.” The young man, who chose to continue the competition with Mika, does not lose hope of one day finding traces of his biological parents.
