Arnaud Crétot, a Norman baker, uses a solar oven to produce his bread. This solution is both ecological and economical. Meeting with a passionate entrepreneur.

Arnaud Crétot is a baker almost like any other. Only, in his garden is his oven which heats only if there is sun. “It heats up as much as a normal oven. From the moment the sun is present, […] the oven heats up, even in Normandy”, assures the founder of NeoLoco. The loaves will bake for 45 minutes in this oven, which can exceed 300 degrees. This oven works thanks to 69 mirrors that Arnaud Crétot moves according to the sun.

Up to 300 degrees

“You shouldn’t put your hand too close. […] This solar concentrator reflects the sun’s rays and it comes to concentrate them in a small surface. Then it diffuses into the oven, which allows the oven to be heated up to 300 degrees”, explains the baker. No connection is necessary, and for Arnaud Crétot it is zero energy expenditure. To accompany his bread, the entrepreneur offers his version of coffee. This alternative, without imported product, is based on roasted chickpeas. Arnaud Crétot delivers his products by bike.
