A 71-year-old man was fatally struck by the driver of a truck on Friday in Saint-Eustache, in the Laurentians region.
The tragedy occurred around 3:30 p.m. on Boulevard Pie-XII at the corner of Rue Marcel, in a residential area.
The driver was reportedly blinded by the sun while turning onto rue Marcel. It was then that he hit the pedestrian, who was seriously injured. The victim was taken to hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No charges have been laid in this case. The event would be of accidental origin, said Dany Gagnon, spokesperson for the Police Department of the City of Saint-Eustache.
