An earthquake of magnitude 7.1 on the Richter scale occurred on the evening of Tuesday, September 7 in southeastern Mexico, the National Seismological Center said. Authorities reported at least one death and some property damage at first. “A man died because a pole fell on him in the municipality of Coyuca de Benítez”, in the southeast of the country, according to the city governor.
Mexican President Andrés Manuel Lopez Obrador clarified in a message that only “stones have fallen from the walls”. According to the Mexican head of state, the earthquake did not cause any damage in the cities of Oaxaca (south), Puebla (center) and Mexico City, the capital of Mexico.
